Our Sages describe the Messiah as waiting anxiously to come. In previous generations, his coming was prevented by the fact that the Jews had not completed the tasks expected of them. At present, those tasks have been accomplished; there is nothing lacking. All we have to do is accept the Messiah, and to create an environment that will allow his mission to be fulfilled...
In the Talmud (Pesachim 119b), our Sages described the Redemption as a feast. The table has already been set...everything has been served...and we are sitting at the table together with the Messiah.
All we need to do is open our eyes.

I'm sorry but I'm more affected by all of the pain, everywhere in the world, than by pretty scenery with which people are so impressed by God's creation. Seriously??? On one side of the scale there is all the pretty scenery of God's creation, and on the other side is all the pain and suffering in this world. Pretty scenery doesn't even have weight next to the pain. God has created far more suffering than "natural wonders".
ReplyDeleteHonestly, is the vastness of the universe and all its intricate details really so impressive when considering it was done by an infinite, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent God? I wouldn't expect less with such power; and would actually hope for more (and far less pain and suffering).
Do not agree that there is more pain in the world than beauty. Nothing to do with God. I just agree with Louis Armstrong that all in all, it's a wonderful world. Though it has lots of yucky stuff in it. And i think you probably have days that you feel the same. Because I know that i have had MANY days that I feel like you write here....
ReplyDeleteBut one thing we agree, for sure. When God will finally take off His mask at Messiah's advent, He will have a lot of explaining to do. We all would expect from Him less pain...
